A Big Thank
You From Larry Clark, Club Manager
Larry says thanks to all the volunteers for their terrific help
in making the State convention a success. And a special thanks
to our Ding Darling chapter for all their help and for donating
the delicious rolls, brownies etc.
Pioneers of The Past Paved the Way for the Future
An October 24, 1967 newsletter, given to me by Keith
Kirkpatrick, and written by then Chapter President Gene
Kragenbrink, dedicated that edition to “Ding” Darling and his
efforts to thwart the decline of the waterfowl population. Gene
said most hunters would agree that duck hunting is not what it
used to be (1967) and they might sit all day in their blind
without an opportunity to fire one shot. He also pointed out
that Ding, as chief of the Biological Survey, cut bag limits and
seasons to the bone. Ding designed the first duck stamp which
sold for $1 with the proceeds used to purchase refuges.
Today we have ducks and geese spending all year here. They are
so thick in the urban areas that they have become a nuisance.
I’m sure Ding is smiling.
Door Prizes
Note: We are in need of door prizes for the weekly drawing. See
Sony Satre, Program Chairman if you can donate an item.
