S.O.S. News
On May 11, 2006 Anita Ditmer-Purcel, Don Probst, Jeff Primmer
and Jack Soulis participated in the Iowa Children’s Water
Festival at DMAAC. They conducted five sessions for 5th grade
students from throughout the state on how pollution can affect
fish and humans.
May 21, 2006 we had our first water monitoring , of the season,
at Yeader Creek. Two bags of trash and a kitchen chair were
removed from the creek near the 11th street pedestrian bridge.
Wimpy Stifel grilled for the crew and Vivian Vogel provided
desert. Thanks to them for their efforts and thanks to the crew
of Don Probst, Fred Kokke, Mike Roland, Jeff Primmer, Jim Kilts
and Geno Cataldo for their work.
Jack Soulis, Committee Chairman.

Grounds Cleanup Scheduled for June 10
Saturday June 10 has been scheduled
to spruce up the chapter grounds.
Volunteers are needed to trim bushes, pull weeds, etc. The
cleanup will begin at 8:30 AM, to take advantage of the coolest
time of day. How long it takes will depend on the number of
volunteers we have, but it’s anticipated that the project will
be completed in about two hours.
A sign up sheet will have been passed around at the June 6th
meeting, but you can still volunteer by just showing up Saturday
morning at 8:30 AM even if you did not sign up.
Help Keep
the Newsletter Mail List Current
This is a follow up to an article I published in the newsletter
several months ago. You can help keep the mail list current by
letting me know when your address changes, or when you are going
to be away for an extended period and do not want your mail
forwarded.
This will not only insure uninterrupted receipt of your
newsletter, but will also save the chapter money. It costs the
chapter 39 cents for every newsletter undelivered and returned
by the post office.
Thanks.
