Special Person’s Fishing Day Success
(by Bob Jewett)

A happy throng of 70 kids from the Woodward Resource Center in Woodward, IA, and 30 veterans from Veterans Hospital and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) joined 30 Ikes, members of the Polk City Fire Department, U.S. Third District Congressman Leonard Boswell and his staff  at Big Creek State Park Saturday June 12 for the Special Person's Fishing Day.

The Des Moines Chapter of The Izaak Walton League extends a warm thank you to Big Creek Boat Marina concession owner Mark Crawford for the generous donation of two pontoon boats and congratulates vet Reggie Lowe for landing the largest fish of the day, a 21 inch bass.

Let’s Thank The Following Ikes!

  • Ed Dillman for mowing our prairie grass

  • Wayne Kozak for getting the cooker and having his son make some welding repairs

  • “Outdoors Dan” Young for the rods and reels plus monetary donation for the “Uncle Ikes” Annual Campout
