Protect
Yourself Against the Perils of UVB and UVA
We are now entering the peak of summer and with it comes the
perils of excessive exposure to the suns rays.
Many dermatologists proclaim the ideal is to avoid exposure
altogether, but being outdoors people, we know that is not
practical. Therefore, it’s important that we do what we can to
minimize the absorption of both UVB and UVA rays (These are the
invisible ultraviolet rays from the sun known to be a cause of
skin cancer).
It is recommended to use a sunscreen with a SPF rating of 30 and
preferably waterproof to maximize its longevity. Apply it before
you receive exposure to the sun and re-apply every 2 to 3 hours.
Some products only protect against UVB so it is important to
read the labels. Look for products with Zinc Oxide and/or
Titanium dioxide. Think about using on arms and face when going
on long auto trips if windows are not tinted. Have a safe
summer!
