Club House
Gets a Face Lift
Saturday, September 9, eight volunteers wearing their paint
clothes and an energetic spirit moved in on the club house to
give it a much needed face lift. After arriving they were armed
with paint, rollers and brushes to begin their assault on the
club house exterior.
Their coordinated efforts produced the amazing results to the
club house and garage seen today.
A big thank you to the following volunteers for their generous
effort and time: Jim Durbala, organizer of the event, Sonny
Satre, Cleon McMahon, John Rummer, Jerry Starret, and Joe Judge.
And to Wimpy Stifel and Vivian Vogel for preparing the food for
the painters.
Door Prizes
Note: We are in need of door prizes for the weekly drawing.
See Steve Roe, Program Chairman if you can donate an item.
Make sure you
sign your dinner ticket to be eligible to win. You

Outdoor Media
Celebrities in Our Midst
Most of us are aware
that we have several members that host outdoor programs on radio
and TV. I think it’s time we pay tribute to these members for
promoting conservation and the outdoor activities we all hold
dear.
The longest
standing member of the group is, of course, Keith Kirkpatrick.
Keith is our current honorary President and the long time host
of the ever popular “Sportsman’s Notebook” on WHO, 1040 AM
radio. Although I don’t have any statistics, “Sportsman’s
Notebook” has to be one of the longest running shows around.
Then we have Ron
Kuntz, a local attorney and long time member and past President
of our Chapter. Ron takes on the difficult task of filling in
for Keith Kirkpatrick on “Sportsman’s Notebook” when Keith needs
a little time away.
The newest member
of this group is Dan Young who is host of the “Outdoors Dan”
show on KRNT, 1350 AM and Praise 940 AM radio. In addition to
the “Outdoors Dan” show, he has recently started a new weekly TV
show called “Outdoors Traditions” showing hunts in Iowa and
across the country. This new show can be seen on Fox 17 Sundays
at 7:30 a.m., Media Com Channel 22 on Monday & Friday at 4:30
p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 p.m. In addition, “Outdoors
Traditions” is aired Nationwide on the “Sportsman’s” channel
Monday at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at
5:00 p.m. |
