Save Our
Streams (SOS) Report
We now have 7 members certified by the Iowa Division of
the DNR. These members and several other Ikes monitored Yeader
Creek three times and Easter Lake once this year.
The creek continues to improve since the airport installed
retention ponds to capture their de-icing runoff. The lake
tested okay and the park ranger is now certified to do the
testing. We have had good turnouts to help with our testing and
cleanups. I extend my thanks to Wimpy Stifel for the cookouts
following the projects.
We need more SOS members trained in monitoring so that we can
take on more projects. We meet every second Tuesday of the month
at 6 PM. Please join us and inform us of any streams you would
like to see monitored.
Jack Soulis, Chairman 515-249-4896.
A Big Thank
You to the Kitchen Crew
It’s been a privilege to work with our fantastic kitchen/pit
staff on a weekly basis. Our staff is made up of volunteers,
paid staff and some community service individuals. The staff, on
a weekly basis, miraculously provides an outstanding meal for
our member nights and groups renting the facility as well.
I’ve heard compliments on the street and just want to say keep
up the great work.
The next time you see one of these individuals, let them know
how much you appreciate their efforts.
Mike Lucas, 1st Vice President. |
