Second Annual
Swap Meet Renamed and Scheduled
The 2nd annual Des Moines Izaak Walton League Fishing, Hunting,
Outdoor Sports, Boating and Gun Show, (formerly called Swap
Meet), has been scheduled for January 26 and 27, 2008. The show
will feature fishing and hunting gear of all kinds; boats, guns,
fishing and hunting resorts, archery equipment, wildlife art and
outdoor furniture.
This will be a great family event with laser guns to test your
shooting skills, hunting and fishing raffle items, 2008 hunting
& fishing licenses for sale, and DNR seminars, plus archery
clinics, for the kids, with Outdoors Dan. We will also have food
and refreshments for sale.
Show hours are: Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, Sunday 9 am to 3 pm. (Be
sure to bring your knives for sharpening)
Admission fees: Adults $3 and ages 12 and under free.
There are still some exhibit spaces available at $30/table for
Ike members and $40 for non-members. For more information or to

Deer Hunters! The Vets Need Your Hides
The Elks Lodge #98, 5420 NE 12th, Pleasant Hill is again
collecting hides for our veterans to use in making leather
goods. You can drop off at the above address or call 265-6681
for pick up.

this Year’s Xmas Party
(A members only event)
Circle December 18th on your calendar and come join in on the
great food and fun at your Ike’s annual Christmas dinner/party.
The menu includes a 12oz rib eye steak with all the trimmings.
Free peanuts, in the shell, will be distributed and
two free kegs of beer will be tapped at 5:30 pm.
You will definitely want to buy some raffle tickets for some of
the terrific items being raffled off. There will be a .22
caliber Henry Golden Boy, a 12 gauge camo pump shotgun, a
portable Garmin GPS for your automobile, 10 free trips to
Ballard’s Resort at Lake of the Woods (4 nights lodging and
three days of guided fishing), and a quality spinning rod/reel.
Of course there will be the traditional money tickets sold as
well. Also, if that is not enough to excite you, there will be a
drawing after dinner for four $25 gift cards donated by
Sportsman’s Warehouse.
2008 Dues Being Accepted at the Door
Pay your 2008 dues on Tuesday nights at the door and save the
chapter the cost of mailing a notice.
Do you know that only $14 of your $60 individual dues and $21 of
your $89 family dues goes to the chapter? The balance of
individual dues is distributed $36 to National and $10 to State.
The balance of family dues is distributed $54 to National and
$14 to State.
